Scopa Wild Bee Homes
White Oak Homes for Wild Bees
Based in Ottawa, Ontario, Scopa was founded by Ryan Brideau and his partner and entomologist, Dr. Jessica Forrest, to make the highest quality habitats for wild bees possible.
After learning about the global decline in insect population and meeting Jessica, Ryan walked away from a decade-long career in software as a data scientist to focus his efforts on raising awareness of the plight of our wild pollinators. He transitioned his small basement hand woodworking shop to a small production operation, and began designing and building “outdoor furniture for underappreciated animals.”
All of Scopa’s products are made from domestic white oak, and are finished with outdoor finishes so safe that they can be used in children’s toys. They are designed to not only be aesthetic and long-lasting, but with deep consideration of what’s required for healthy bee populations based on the latest research in the field.
