Neelam is the mixed-media visual artist behind Art is a Verb. As a South Asian woman, child of immigrants, Alberta-born, current Montréal-er, her work explores the places and identities she’s lived, a focus on hearth and home, a constant reverence for nature and its cycles, and a commitment to a “femme is not frail” message. Neelam mixes historically domestic mediums like embroidery with watercolour, painting, drawing, collage, dried flowers, and more. Her mission is for Signatures patrons to nest in their homes and transform their spaces into sanctuaries with her one-of-a-kind, slow art.
Neelam has a degree in Drama and Art & Design but is primarily a self-taught artist. She has spent the last couple of years on her emerging business journey. Signatures Ottawa would be her first time expanding into Ontario and participating in an event of this magnitude. Her goals are to make meaningful community connections, represent BIPOC excellence, and grow Art is a Verb to new heights.
