Salt Sky Studio is the creative collaboration of artist Kate Brown and her husband, BJ Brown.

Using locally sourced premium poplar, BJ handcrafts the frames and wooden slats that serve as the canvas for their artwork. Kate, an engineer and self-taught artist, then uses the slats to create colourful, abstract paintings in her unique style, featuring clean lines, bold gradients, and textured 3D detail.

Born and raised in rural Nova Scotia, much of Kate’s artwork is influenced by life by the ocean and the unique culture of the Maritimes. Her artwork is rooted in capturing the feelings of home and togetherness, by preserving memories of places and traditions that we each hold dear. There is a feeling of nostalgia in every artwork.
